Unable to connect to X1 service error

I too am also experiencing this problem.

I've raised a Support Case (00069191) yesterday, but when I try to email X1 Support with additional information i.e. screengrab( to: customercare@x1.com), the email bounces back from Googlemail as undeliverable.

This is a complete shambles.

p.s. I put the wrong email. I've tried customercare@x1.com, but will also try customercare1@x1.com - thanks Image

Garmin Core Update Service causes problems with X1

We have confirmed that this service, which is used with several Garmin products -- is a process that is preventing X1 from working properly. Stopping this process will allow X1 to come back to life. This is due to the internal workings of the Garmin products and not something we have been able to find a way to workaround.

We will keep you posted as we learn more information.

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to be digging into this issue a bit more -- and we realize that there are needed improvements to our Proxy detection.
This has been slotted to be improved by the next release. We'll keep you posted.

I too have this problem at my work place with the proxy filtering out "non-work related" and bad reputation websites.

But not only would an off-line installer be required, an offline activation process would also be needed.

Same here, the v8 installer really stinks.

I was behind a proxy as well, switched to a guest net and the installer still fails with the generic "you do not have internet connectivity" message....really? IE, FF, and a host of other apps can all get out...but apparently not X1.

I am really discouraged with this product, who can't write some simple code for an app to reach into a cookie jar for use with a proxy? Apparently not X1.

I now have to reinstall 6.7.4 and reindex...I wasted my time with this.

Hi,

I would love to try this out being an X1 customer in the past. However, I am going via a proxy at work and I have had not been able to do previous installs. Lo and behold I get this message when I try to run the new X1 v8 installer so I assume that I have the same issue. I have now got the admins to add *.activation.x1.com and *.download.x1.com to be allowed through the proxy but I'm still getting the same error.

Anyone know of anything I can try to get it installed?

Thanks, but that's not the problem I'm having. In your screen cap the icons are visible. Absolutely no icons whatsoever are displayed under the circumstances I noted. Only the textual information (filename, type, date, etc.) is displayed. I'll try to post an image later. Even if rebooting caused the problem to go away (which it didn't), this would still be an issue with X1, but thanks for the suggestion.

As I wrote previously: When I click on Files under Everything or click on Files in the Favorites bar, no file icons are displayed.

You mean like this...?

E.g. Word Icon incorrectly displayed yesterday, but today, after launching, it was correctly displayed again.
Maybe a reboot of your pc helps? I don't know, it is just a wild guess only...

In Table View, when I click on All Files, Documents, Pictures or Music under Files in the Search List, file type icons are displayed next to the file names in the Results window. When I click on Files under Everything or click on Files in the Favorites bar, no file icons are displayed. Switching the Views back and forth doesn't make icons show up in Table View.

Hey there,
Any users on support are eligible to upgrade to X1 Search 8 at no cost. Unfortunately, if you are not on support, you would have to purchase a new license.
Why not check out the 14 day trial and see if it is for you? Image

Good idea. But where will X1 get a viewer from?

It buys viewers in from a division of Oracle.

Same issue for OneNote.

Even though Evernote has its own search, it would be superior to use the X1 integrated support.
I would think that the very large Evernote user base would put this feature quite high on your list of enhancements.

I spoke to one our techs regarding this -- it shouldn't be difficult to bring back. However, right clicking OPEN should work as well if that is what you are trying to do. If you need the absolute link for copy/paste -- then different scenario. I'll look into it and keep you posted Image

Path Shown Above Preview Window Used to Be Selectable

I regard this as a bug because it stopped working with Search 8 (trial). In version 6.7, I could select (highlight) and copy the "Path:" name displayed above the Preview Window for the currently displayed file. This was a VERY convenient and helpful feature, as users frequently need to enter a file's path or file name into the Open dialog and text boxes in other applications.

In Search 8, I can still perform this action on the FILE NAME above the Preview Window, but it no longer works on the PATH. I imagine this was an oversight during development of Search 8, because it makes no sense to give users the ability to select the file name while at the same time preventing them from selecting the Path--especially when previous versions had this feature. Please restore the ability to select and copy the Path string above the File Preview Window. This should be an easy fix.
