The positive about qm: After several years of unsuccessful attempts, countless re-installs and corrupt indexes, X1 indexed ~6Mio items and worked as expected for a couple of weeks.

Until totay.

Without any error message or warning, the index got corrupted.

When will we finally get an X1 that is at least as reliable as Microsofts index?

This is an incredibly frustrating release. Preview is not working again - even after I delete the offending file. The system just recreates the file and screws it up again. Now the search function is not working properly and every email is getting tagged with my search functions. The system just hangs and does nothing and when it finally loads, it lists every email 3-4 times. Can I please rollback to a previous version that actually worked? This software was better 6 months ago. RIght now - it's unusable.

I specifically want to mark mails read in the X1 program itself and then make sure that the actual Outlook e-mail is accordingly also marked as read - after which, I will delete it and do not want all kinds of spurious messages stating that I never read the particular message being sent out afterwards...

I want to go back to the previous version.

This version does not mark the actual messages AS READ when we do this in X1 - *unlike* the older version - so then if we delete them after marking them "read" in X1 8.5 Build6001qm, then the send sees that we are deleting their messages without reading them!

That is unacceptable.

I wrote to X1 support at one point in time, but I think they simply brushed this complaint off...

Fortunately I'm having luck on 2 machines but my office workstation is not so fortunate. I've reinstalled windows, Office and X1 and still have lagging X1.

Tech support is non-existent.

Raised a ticket for this and was given the following solution:

1.Be sure to quit X1 using Exit under the main menu and verify it is completely shut down via the processes tab in task manger.
2.Go to C:\users\username\appdata\local\x1 search (this is the default location of X1’s data directory).
3.Locate a file named init.html and delete it.

Seems to work for now.....

Similar issue for me: preview takes ages to appear when X1 is just started - but a little later in the day does not appear at all. Started a ticket and was told to do the following:
CLEAR/REBUILD FILES INDEX:

Close X1 - Menu > Exit
Navigate to C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\X1 Search
Sort the files by type and delete any file that has the word Files - something - .dat.
Restart X1, exclude the AppData folder and other system folders from the Files index and re index.
- Menu > Data Sources > [edit] Files index (pencil icon) > navigate to the C:\Users\xxx\AppData folder and exclude it from the index by selecting the folder and then the radio button 'Nothing - do not index'
- Update the index by clicking the 'play' button to the right of the pencil icon

This worked for a while but no longer.
In the past I would get a response from technical assistance but am no longer getting it. Don't think I'll renew my paid subscription.

I received a message that 8.5 is available, I ticked the box to the right and clicked install. A screen then pops up X1 Search Setup and disappears after about 2 seconds and that's it. It's the same if I click on the menu/help/check for updates.

How do In install the new program?

Slow - No Results

Each action requested results in "No Results" including the Clear button.

This lasts for up to 25 seconds.

I've uninstalled and applied the kill reg and reinstalled/reindexed.

Same problem exists.

Installed on 4 machines - this currently occurs on only one. All 4 machines are the same spec and software. Was working fine until last week on the problematic machine. Nothing new on machine.

Submitted case - don't expect a response.

Hi there.

I've been using X1 for several years and LOVE it!

I recently had to reinstall my laptop.
I deactivated the license as I should...

After the reinstall, trying to install the fresh copy gives the error
"Unable to complete setup due to an unexpected error."

I looked at the log and all look fine until at the end:
"16 May 2017 16:30:53,931 [25] ERROR BootstrapperController - Installation unsuccessful."

Now what? Can I get help with this, or do I need to buy support?
I'm concerned that other posts I've done I've had ZERO response on. (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18033)

We’re tremendously excited to announce the GA release of X1 Search 8.5.1!

This 8.5.1 release should resolve many of the issues that were identified with help from your feedback after the release of Search 8.5. During this development cycle we were able to: optimize the speed of the incremental “quick” scans in the Outlook connector, fix issues related to Low Disk Space safeguards, and add the ability to customize the X1 Search shortcut keys.

You can upgrade via Menu>Info>Check for Updates Button, or you can download with the below links. There are a few links available below depending on what you prefer to install. The new .MSI will help users only download the code from X1 one time if they are going to install it on more than one computer. It will also enable Enterprise IT administrators to use their standard MSI deployment tools.

• Added support for X1 Rapid Discovery Connector post-search actions on Microsoft Exchange items
• Added the ability to customize or remove X1 Search shortcut keys
• A notification message now displays when index optimization is in progress
• Outlook scanners now give more useful status information

Bug Fixes:
• Fixed a bug that caused the date for some emails to be incorrectly displayed as 1/1/4501
• Addressed an issue that could cause scanners to pause due to an incorrectly reported Low Disk space condition
• Fixed an issue that caused the Outlook index to be lost when returning a system suspend or resume event
• Fixed a crash that could happen OneDrive for Business authentication prompt was displayed
• Files within a compressed container now properly respect content indexing filesize limits
• All Outlook saved searches can now be properly shared
• Selecting "Clear Filter" now clears only the user-inputted filtering criteria, not the preset terms for a saved search
• Uninstalling now correctly removes the "Plugins" folder from the install directory
• Installer slideshow displays high definition slides to those machines which support it
• Many other key bug fixes and improvements

This doesn't work. Not even after the close/reopen trick.

The cursor turns into the expected resize arrows but they do nothing UNLESS you are in full-screen, maximised, mode. "Cascaded" does nothing.

At least I know know that I can maximise the window to achieve the required effect.

Quirky to say the least.

This issue should be fixed in 8.5.1, which has been released today (5/16).
