I too am also experiencing this problem.

I've raised a Support Case (00069191) yesterday, but when I try to email X1 Support with additional information i.e. screengrab( to: customercare@x1.com), the email bounces back from Googlemail as undeliverable.

This is a complete shambles.

p.s. I put the wrong email. I've tried customercare@x1.com, but will also try customercare1@x1.com - thanks Image

X1 Search version 8 freezing with outlook/office 2010 as wel

I have not heard of any 2010 issues personally but I also am not often responding to our support queue. I'll be sure to ask our QA team about this. In the meantime, have you submitted diagnostics as suggested in the 2013 thread?

If not here is the link: http://www.x1.com/support/x1_search_submit_case.html

X1 Search version 8 freezing with outlook/office 2010 as wel

Version 8 is constantly freezing and/or not returning expected results for me. I have the latest version of the X1 Search 8 according to Menu|Help|Check for updates. After reviewing your thread on 2013 freezing, I tried to disable RTI for my outlook 2010 install as well since indexing never seems to stop, but that feature doesn't seem to be available for 2010.

Unfortunately, version 8 is unusable for me at this time. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise, SP 1, 64-bit with Office 2010. Are you aware of any issues, and are there solutions for this? I need to fall back to an earlier version of X1 if there isn't.

Thanks,

Gary

Can you login to the Support Portal? You should see the login options here.

Product Support for Desktop Search

You don't need a current support contract to get in there. When you bought X1, you probably used an email address. If you don't have a password, ask it to send you one. If it doesn't recognise you, then you may have to contact them by email.

There really is no need to pay again, unless you want the new version.

When you do manage to login, it should show you the link to the 6.7.4 Client. Download it. PUT A COPY IN A SAFE PLACE. Then install it.

Hi, I'm running version 6.7.4, I still have my invoice and my order reference number when I bought it last year. But when I go to the "product support" page its asking me to pay for help. Is there another way to download the old version 6.7.4 without paying for it? Thank you so much.

Which version of X1?

If it is prior to Search 8, then you need to run the installation program, the one that you used to install X1 on your old laptop.

If you have lost that, then you may be able to login to the support area and download the last version that your licence covers.

As to transferring configuration, this is complicated. I wouldn't advise trying anything beyond copying "Saved Searches" between PCs. If you have other settings that you really do want to copy, tell us what they are and someone might have a bright idea.

Hello,

Could you please tell me how to transfer my X1 Desktop Search Pro software and settings, from my old laptop to my new laptop? I recently received a new laptop at work, and would like some instructions on how to do this. Thank you so much. God Bless.

Check the general discussion on issues with Office 2013/365.

I haven't gone down that road yet.

All emails...even calendar items and notes, etc. I cannot Open, Reply, Reply All, Forwards, or Delete... (those are all the ones I tried on the upper right). It also doesn't work if I double-click on the email. It does this in "Outlook" and in "Everything". I am able to launch FILES in the "files" section by either double-clicking or by pressing "Open" on the button on the upper right corner.

Is it just one message, or all email?

When I search for emails, I am not able to double-click on one of the resulting emails and have it open up in Outlook. It just freezes for about 30-60 seconds and then I get control back, but the email never opens up. I can see it in the preview pane, but I cannot launch it in Outlook.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
john

therev wrote:Thanks. Rhonda, sorry I completely missed your question - yes it means it doesn't completely index.

I uninstalled X1 v8 from that machine, and installed it on another one where I had the same problem for a bit. It seemed to have something to do with the authentication to Exchange (I've corresponded directly with X1 on this and sent logs etc), but then it cleared up.

I might get back to the original machine and try again ... in which case I'll try the Run as Administrator option ... I can't remember if I tried it before.

Keep me posted. My email is in my sig -- let's figure this out.

From the x1 shortcut on your desktop, right click and run as administrator. I had this problem with the beta and the paid version. I was able to get it to work this way. Not sure if there was something else going on, but that's how I got it to work. It took me a couple of days to come across that in BETA.

Greetings,

We are currently looking into problems that appear with some users and 2013.

On the subject of your index moving to "cancelled" -- does this mean you never fully index?

Regards,

Rhonda

Hi ... I know this is something that came up in the beta testing (which I did not take part in this time, so it's a clean install of X1 Search Image.

All Outlook indexing though switches to 'cancelled' ... if I click to start indexing, it flips to "Starting" and then "Cancelled" appears immediately.

I've tried running X1 as administrator and that doesn't make any difference.

I'm running Win 7 (32 bit), with Outlook 2013 connecting to hosted Exchange 2013, and various IMAP accounts plus archived PSTs locally.

Thanks ... I realise this is going to be a busy day for everyone!

Outlook Express fell by the wayside some versions ago, with Microsoft let alone X1, losing some users. But if you still have a version of X1 that supports Outlook Express, or 6.7.X if you are a Thunderbird addict who doesn't like MAPI, there is nothing to stop you running the old X1 side by side with X1 Search 8. I do that to maintain access to some of the "connectors" that I rely on in 6.7.4. Rumour has it that some of the folks within X1 are equally fickle in their loyalties.

Seconded.

Even worse, the ability to keep the old version and indexes (necessary to use my 15 years+ of emails from Thunderbird and before it Outlook Express) seems to have been eliminated.

So if I even want to try the new final release of X1 Pro, I lose all access to my email searches. This means that any users with historical email records (other than Outlook, it seems) have been abandoned. I can't use the new X1 Pro, even on a trial basis.

When I bought my license for X1 Search, I never dreamed that X1 would eliminate support for existing features.
