Hi,

On which saved search does this happen? Inbox or the root account search?
Is it a Gmail account?

After having indexed an old IMAP mail archive, the number of indexed mail is significantly off:
The archive has 40.000 emails, X1 shows 40.352.

There is no new traffic into the IMAP mailbox.
It's inactive and a backup only.

Indexing cancelled

Hi ... I know this is something that came up in the beta testing (which I did not take part in this time, so it's a clean install of X1 Search Image.

All Outlook indexing though switches to 'cancelled' ... if I click to start indexing, it flips to "Starting" and then "Cancelled" appears immediately.

I've tried running X1 as administrator and that doesn't make any difference.

I'm running Win 7 (32 bit), with Outlook 2013 connecting to hosted Exchange 2013, and various IMAP accounts plus archived PSTs locally.

Thanks ... I realise this is going to be a busy day for everyone!

"License ID" and "License Password"?

Hi

I have just downloaded to newly released X1 8.0 and it prompts me to enter the "License ID" and "License Password". I only have ever received an "Activation Key" from X1, so I have no idea what to enter here. I have tried various combinations of activation ID, email address, name, forum password etc. without success. Image

We recently discovered an issue with the X1 Trial License which may cause X1 Trials to expire prematurely. We will be releasing an update within the next few hours specifically to correct this issue and allow you to avoid a premature termination of your X1 Search 8 trial period.

While the issue will most likely affect trial users only, we are encouraging all X1 Search 8 users to upgrade to this new release in order to avoid any potential problems.

Installing this update should not affect any customizations you have made; you will not have to rebuild your index and will not lose any saved searches you've created.

To install this update simply restart your X1 Search 8 product or use your In-product Help > Check for Updates function.

Please post any questions to this thread.

We apologize for any convenience.

Sorry, I'm new to X1 pro and now search 8, but how do I know I have the correct version if my update says there is no updates. What I mean is I downloaded and installed my version before your post which intuitively would mean that I need to update, but when I try to update I get a modal dialog stating I'm up to date.

So is there a way to version check and what version is the correct build we should be running?

Steve,

We had meant to say that the update would be released in the next few hours...so, stay tuned. You will prompted to upgrade either on launch of X1 Search 8 or by going to Help > Check for Updates.

And, yes, you can check for your installed version by going to Menu > License > License Info.

Pricing of support

I am not sure whether I am misunderstanding your question but the two prices appear to be the same to me.

The first is $19.95. The second is $24.95 less $5.00 Support Bundle Discount (ie $19.95).

Why they should show it like this is unclear but the result seems to be the same.

By the way:
In most cases, when users buy a license, they get free support for a certain period of times.
For instance 6 months or so.
I think X1 does not offer this..??
(vainly tried to find an answer on this on their site)

I wish to buy a licence of X1 Search 8 with support.

On this page http://www.x1.com/products/x1_search/ the support is listed at $19.95 for a year:

When I click to buy the page that comes up shows the price at $24.95:

Can someone from X1 explain the difference?

(I sent the above request to X1 by email to info@x1.com but have not received a response.)

X1 search final - creating new indexes / not enough quota

Folders
After installing the final version (running setup that showed up after launching the beta) it appears that entirely new subfolder is created.

I have the indexes stored in x:\X1Pro-Indexfiles.

After installing new subfolders under "X1 Search" were created.

Image

Frozen - what now?
By the end of the day X1 was totally frozen and I got some "out of quotum" error.
There was really no other way, even after waiting 15-20 minutes, but to kill the X1 processes thru the taskmanager.

X1 desktop icon
Vainly tried to launch X1 from the desktop icon.
That is to say: there were (I think) two X1-entries up in the taskmanager alright, but the X1 GUI did not show up,
even not after waiting for a couple of minutes.

Killed the processes again, relaunched, nothing happened ...
Again ...
Again ...
Still nothing . . .

Great: what now?
Do I need to re-install?
Do I need to re-boot?
What will happen with the indexes?
Which ones will then be used?

Discovered that the X1 under Start->Programs eventually did launch X1.
It all went very sluggish, so I decided to recreate entirely a new index-folder.

New index-folder
Created a new folder - Explorer.
Then went into the Indexing -> Managing Data sources -> Delete all indexes one by one (right hand bottom)
After done so and checking the "X1 Search"-subfolder, I discovered that -most- files were indeed '0' bytes, but still quite some files weren't.
Again, went into each individual item (files, outlook, contacts, etc.) and deleted the index.
Nope, the index folder wasn't really empty.
If my memory serves me well, in the past, when clearing the index, the indexfiles indeed were totally gone (index folder was empty).

Anyway, relocated the index (Menu/Options/Indexing tab) to the new folder and let X1 run overnight.

Questions:
- why did the upgrade not use the previous indexes?
- will each update again start to create a new X1 Search index?

I did install the final into the same folder as the beta (so it would take the same settings / indexes, etc. as the beta)

Indeed, PSTs are not just PSTs. I was not aware of any change between 2010 and 2013. One to look out for.

Noted. I was a little off topic. The point was there are multiple .PST formats (three I think between Outlook 2003-2013) to watch out for.

I believe that Outlook 2013 has a different format for .PST files. I had problems with X1 beta and the Outlook 2013 until the recent X1 V8 beta builds. Then it worked.

However, the release version of X1 V8 crashes Outlook 2013 altogether. Outlook 2013 becomes completely unresponsive though the window can be mimimised and restored but the busy "hour" glass remains.

It may depend on the format of your PST files.

PST files are PST files. If X1 can handle one that works in 2007, then it should handle on in the same format from Outlook 2003.

Outlook 2003 began the switch to Unicode files. If you are on Unicode, you could just try X1 Search 8 to see if it indexes.

Actually, I am not sure that X1 Search 8 can't handle the older format. In which case you may still be in luck.

Hi,

i saw that Outlook 2003 is not on the list of the supported email applications. I do not plan to change from outlook 2003 to a newer version, so will i be able to use X1 with Outlook 2003?

I have also been a customer of X1 for a VERY long time and this version is just... bad!

I can't even get the damn thing to start -up! It dies at Start-Up stating 'it cannot connect to the index service!'

WHAT.

Oh, and back level we will go... a back level we will go... HI HO a merry'o and back level we will go!

Sad really... it looks very cool.
