X1 Search 8.5.2 Release - Build 6001si

Hello all,

X1 Search 8.5.2 is now live!

The Search 8.5.2 addresses an issue that caused a small subset of machines to improperly request additional license activations. We also added a feature that allows for users to filter a column header via the value of the highlighted result.

Please see the release notes below for the full list of new features and bug fixes.

You can upgrade via Menu>Info>Check for Updates Button, or you can download with the below links. There are a few links available below depending on what you prefer to install. The new MSI will help users only download the code from X1 one time if they are going to install it on more than one computer. It will also enable Enterprise IT administrators to use their standard MSI deployment tools.

Bootstrapper: http://download.x1.com/downloads/search/X1SearchSetup.exe
64-bit MSI: http://download.x1.com/downloads/search/6001si/X1Search.msi
32-bit MSI:x86: http://download.x1.com/downloads/search/6001si/X1Search32.msi

Search 8.5.2 Release Notes:

New Feature:
• Added the ability to refine a column header by the value of the selected item.

Bug Fixes:
• Fixed an issue that would cause some machines to incorrectly request additional license activations.

Thanks,
Chris

X1 Search 8.5.2 Release - Build 6001si

This build still has the installation problem of build 6001se. I get:
"Unable to complete setup due to an unexpected error. Please see logs for details."

Can you at least tell us which logs I (or even better, you!) should look at to see what's wrong?

Thanks,
Reza

X1 Search 8.5.2 Release - Build 6001si

Ahh, thanks for the clarification and example. Very nice. This gets me one step closer to the one thing that I've wished for in X1 for a while. An easy way to find the rest of a thread after you've found a fragment.

What I mean is: Let's say I had a conversation about apples with Bill, John, and someone else, but I can't remember that someone, and not sure the exact subject, but I know it had Apples in it. Now, I need to go back and review the entire conversation and find out what that someone said.

Since I know Bill was in the conversation, I search for:
From: Bill
Subject: Apples

That gets me Bill's side of the conversation, but that doesn't show me all of it. If there was an additional option for "Filter exclusively by selection" which would clear all the other existing filter criteria before filtering by the selection, that would enable me to use it on the subject and get the the entire conversation in one fell swoop.

As I was writing this, I realized that if I use an n-step process of:
1. Filter by selection (on the subject in this case)
2 - n: clear filter on the other fields

That does get me what I'm after. So, in retrospect, I actually might be in Nirvana.

Thanks for this added feature!

Do you have a customer support ticket number I can reference?

For future reference, any logs related to the installation will be located in the temp file directory. There will be a x1searchsetup.log and an associated x1searchinstall(random numbers).log that will both be necessary to provide to Customer Care to troubleshoot this.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
I don't have a ticket number; I haven't filed a case.

Thanks for the pointer to the files. I found them. Would like me to upload them somewhere?

Thanks,
Reza

How do I work with stop lists?

How can additional stoplists be added?

I'd be tremendously excited if X1 would reply to this post.
I'd be even more tremendously excited if there was some sort of documentation...

Thanks in advance.

Poy,

Please consider yourself responded to.

As this time, there's not a way to configure stopwords within the index.

My best suggestion is to employ some of the tactics described in this article:

Hi Migwel,

Install issues are something that's a bit tricky to diagnose on these forums. Would you mind submitting a ticket?

What makes you think that this is happening? It doesn't do that here. So there is something amiss with your installation, or you are misinterpreting the messages you see.

Just because the status says 0% indexed does not mean it is starting from scratch, just that it is 0% of the way through its current session.
It's not showing 0% - it's actually *continuously* indexing!

(Different percentages at different points in time)

I'm running Win7 64bit, with Outlook2007...

I still am sending out "read" receipts for messages that I do not wish to inform that I have read them! (These are mostly my own messages to employees that I am copied on)

Any reason why you suddenly stopped doing this - or "forgot" to make sure this option continued on from prior versions of X1 Search?

Yes, this is the current version I am running (Build 6001si)
Any progress on READ receipts?

Also, why does X1 *continuously* index???

X1 Search 8.5.2 Release - Build 6001si

I have been using X1 for a very long time. I have not had a better searching experience with any other software.
I really only use X1 for email search.

I was recently upgraded to a new laptop (a couple of months ago) at work and we also migrated over to Office 365.
Since I installed X1 on my new laptop, I believe that X1 is not finding and indexing all the email in my OST file. The best example of this is when I look in my Sent folder in outlook I can see that I have a little over 20,000 items. In X1 if I select Sent Items on the left side the results window only shows me 844 items. alternatively if I select All Email on the left side and enter my own name in the From box, the results window only shows me a little over 6,000 items.

What can I do to make sure that X1 is finding and indexing all my emails?
I still have not added any of my achrived PST files, I want to wait until I resolve this issue to know that X1 is working.

I have never had this type of issue with X1 in the past.

Thank you for your help.

Jason

X1 Search 8.5.2 Release - Build 6001si

X1 Continues to reset the email search results back to 10,265 indexed items and no email. It usually takes a reboot or restarting the application for indexing to restart and then finally get back to my full email about 350k email items. After a few days or less, the same issue.

The 10,265 is for files, contacts, and calendar. But no email.

I have reinstalled several times with a clean download.

Please advise

this is a longstanding issue with my install. the index will get corrupted and 500,000+ items will be cut down to around 100,000 items. i've noticed that if i have indexed two hard drives only the items in drive c: are lost the other items remain.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your response.

Do you have any idea why there is this "english.stop" file included since years?
I already noticed that the contained words are still being indexed.

Kind regards,
Tom

I am only able to update by going to this forum and downloading the msi file. When I select update from within X1 I get an error message that says "No versions of X1 search were found for installation". This has happened with both the 8.5.1 and 8.5.2 releases on more than one machine, all running win7sp1 64 bit.

Cannot install X1 on backup laptop old one died

Trying to install X1 on a backup laptop because my new laptop died but it will not let me activate. Cannot deactivate on old system because at this time it has been sent out for repair and will come back with a clean install and hard drive. I kept the old hard drive but it will not boot up. What is the best way to get this fixed. I restored my outlook files and would love to use X1 on this backup laptop. When I get my new laptop back I will deactivate it on the backup pc before installing on the new one as a fresh install.
I would like to be able to use X1 on the backup laptop until the new one comes back which could take a few weeks to get to that point.

X1 Search 8.5.2 Release - Build 6001si

I have just installed this version on a new Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 with Win 10 Pro. Everything indexes, and re-indexes on schedule, as it should but I seem to have lost Real Time Indexing on my Outlook PST and OST files. I have to exit and restart to get the index up-to-date. Any thoughts? No problems with RTI with this version on the machine I just changed from (Win 10 home).

Thanks.

It isn't a beta. But I agree it is a bit old

One of the X1 tech people recently hinted that there is a new version in the works.

I hope it fixes the viewer issues and adopts the newer versions from Oracle.
