Install and loading problems
I've been an X1 user for years. Got a new computer running win7-64 and cannot get X1 to load properly. I've tried every combination of things over the course of month. When installing I get 2 error popups. "ERROR 1604. Module C:\Program Files (x86)\X1\x1icons2.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024894. Contact your support personnel", followed by "ERROR 1604. Module C:\Program Files (x86)\X1\x1icons2-64.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024894. Contact your support personnel". If I ignore them and install, I can only get X1 to start from the taskbar icon. When it does start it will not index or run. X1 will not start from the desktop icon or the start menu. Double clicking on the desktop icon returns the error popup; "X1 experienced a serious problem while trying to launch. Please try again. If the problem persist, please re-install X1 and try again, or contact support for assistance."
Since I just dropped $49 and really do value X1 would like to figure out how to get it to work.
Any ideas? I have searched the boards and the internet and surprised to find no similar problems other than dll failures.

The Windows eventlog shows many 'Errors' with regards to Outlook plug-in X1OutlookRTIAddin32.dll

How to solve it?
I used: X1Search x64 v8.5.2 build 6001si.msi
On WIndows 10 x64
Office 2016 is 32bit
Maybe x64 of X1Search has an issue with the 32bit Outlook add-in?
Maybe I should have used the 32bit installer then?

X1 Capable of Search EXIF or Photo Image Medtadata
Hi:
Curious if X1 is capable of searching EXIF or photo metadata--sure would be nice if it did?
And X1 could add searching full sentence descriptives that would be truly special.
And finally, I'm putting my thousands of negative descriptives in EXCEL spreadsheet so if I could get it to search my spreadsheet that would be nice too.

Can a File Be Indexed Only Once?
Hi,
X1 determines if a file needs to be re-indexed based on few properties like the file size, and date last modified. Is for example the "date modified" changed for that large file?

Some backup software has been known to change the "signature" of a file, thus prompting X1 to reindex it.

Won't preview or open documents: "No Files In Selection"
X1 now fails to preview anything, and if I double click on any result, the error "No files in selection!" So, I basically cannot open files or preview them anymore!
I uninstalled and reinstalled the client, but kept the database. Is there a fix that does not require re-indexing everything on my network?

I resolved my problem by completely uninstalling and deleting the index and all files. Then I installed again, and re-indexed again, and now it is working.

Had the same problem. No preview, and when right-click on file, all fields grayed out. I had success resolving the issue by just deleting the index. I'm using 8.5.2 6001si.

I am running a beta of X1 8.5.2 6001si. It would seem that the non-beta released today would be the latest (and would avoid any beta expiration. But the link in the thread above will not install. It thinks my beta is a newer version (which it should not be). What should I do?

Also, "si" comes after "qm" in the alphabet.

Hold down the shift key when you click to get to another filter.
It will retain some stuff but doesn't always carry over everything.

There must be a way to do this... I just haven't worked it out yet.
I key in a search term against the ALL filter and then change the filter to email only... it loses my search term and I have to key it again.
How do i stop the search keywords from getting cleared when I start filtering?
