At the suggestion of X1 tech support, I did a clean uninstall of X1 and reinstalled it. That solved the problem for me. Here are the instructions I was given, but you should confirm that this will work...

I have a similar issue. X1 does a full scan of EVERYTHING every time I either (a) reboot my computer, or (b) exit X1 and restart. Very annoying.

I've been out of the office for a couple of weeks, and have not had a chance to follow-up with this. What I am finding is that every day X1 does a delta scan of my email, and this takes 5-6 hours....
