I have always thought that X1's interface lacked something. It just looks like it was cobbled together, with little thought for aesthetics. For example, look at this picture:

You will see that the preview chops off the "Refine search" row. It doesn't just look horrible, it makes it harder to refine a search.
Similarly, if you show the "Searches Pane", the "Favorite Searches" bit interrupts the row of tabs for favorite searches.

Someone should tidy this up and get things to align elegantly.
